Here at Sabbatical we're all about doing things the right way. We strive to bring you the best clothing, jewelry, accessories and home decor possible while also ensuring they are ethical, fair trade, and slavery free.

Slavery?!?! Yup, that's right.

Did you know that in 2023 there are estimated to be 50 million people enslaved worldwide?

Many of us are not aware that slavery and child labor are still a massive problem and unknowingly use products everyday that were made with slave labor or unethical practices. Think of the last time you drove a car, ate a banana, put on makeup or a new t-shirt. Although the store you bought these items from may not have ill intent many of these everyday products have unethical labor practices somewhere in their supply chain.

What's a supply chain? Supply chains are a chain or system consisting of raw materials, manufacturing, services, and logistics that take products from the raw material stage to final product. Every business and consumable product has a supply chain. These days chains are lengthy or complex making it easy for slavery to be hidden at one or more stages of production.

Luckily, our founder is a supply chain professional. She has a degree in supply chain as well as work experience in corporate tech supply chains and feels confident in her ability to source products for you that are made ethically, every step of the way!

So why clothing, accessories and home decor? Because it's fun and impactful! The clothing and beauty industry is a huge contributor to unethical sourcing practices but it is also one of the best industries to start a small business in. We are starting small but hope that by providing a safe place to find your new favorite  products we can influence positive change in this massive industry.

Plus let's be real - when you search for ethically made clothes and jewelry a lot of beige and simple designs are what you find. Don't get us wrong we love beige and simple but we also love color, sparkle, and fun designs. Why not have it all?

So what can you expect next from us?

We are just starting out but have some big plans for the upcoming months and years. While we continue to source new products and designs for you we also plan to increase supply chain visibility. In the future every product you buy from Sabbatical will include a description of how and where it was made so you can feel connected and assured. We also plan to implement visible carbon tracking so you know we are staying on top of our environmental impact!
